Rawalpindi (Web Desk): A special court in Rawalpindi issued an arrest warrant for Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, after she failed to attend court hearings for the past ten sessions in the latest Toshakhana case.
This case involves allegations that Bushra and Imran Khan kept an expensive Bulgari jewelry set, which was gifted by a foreign leader, at a price well below its value, causing a significant financial loss to the state. The set includes a necklace, earrings, bracelets, and rings.
Bushra Bibi had been granted bail in October by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), which led to her release from jail.
However, her husband, Imran Khan, remains in custody following his arrest in August 2023 in a separate Toshakhana case.
While the IHC approved his bail in the recent Toshakhana matter last month, his release is still delayed due to pending cases.
The couple's indictment in the current case was initially scheduled for October 2 but was postponed to October 5 upon the defense's request for more time.
Bushra’s release came a few weeks later, on October 24, after the IHC approved her bail plea.
The court hearing the case, presided over by Judge Shahrukh Arjumand, adjourned the proceedings until Monday, issuing a notice to the guarantor for the accused.
Asper the reports, Bushra Bibi is currently in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following PTI's retreat from Islamabad after a police crackdown on their protest.
Imran Khan, facing multiple legal battles, now has 76 cases registered against him.
This includes 14 new FIRs filed following last week's PTI protest in Islamabad, on top of the 62 previous FIRs against him.
