Punjab CM orders operationalisation of 1,115 electric buses by December

Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday directed authorities to ensure that 1,115 electric buses become operational across the province by December 2025.

Chairing a meeting in Lahore to review the progress of several departments, she expressed satisfaction over the delivery of medical care to 1.15 million individuals in flood-hit areas as well as the timely vaccination of all patients affected by snakebites.

She also approved the setup of charging facilities and endorsed new designs for bus stops.

During the meeting, important decisions were also taken to activate over 5,000 water filtration plants throughout Punjab, arrange bottled water supplies for far-flung communities, and carry forward a vaccination campaign that has successfully reached 6.5 million girls against cervical cancer.

The meeting further gave approval for the construction and repair of 4,624 streets in Lahore, development of mineral projects in Chiniot and Mianwali, and the transformation of 148 villages in South Punjab into model settlements.

The Punjab CM emphasized that government institutions must complete these projects within stipulated timelines while keeping public welfare as their foremost priority.
