Kriti Sanon opens up about gender disparity in Bollywood

Mumbai  (Web Desk): Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon has revealed that women in the film industry continue to face unequal treatment compared to their male counterparts, saying gender bias remains a reality on many film sets.

Speaking on a YouTube channel, Kriti reflected on the challenges she has encountered during her career in the entertainment industry.

She said that when a female actor asks questions about her character or a particular scene, she is often labeled as "difficult" or someone who asks too many questions.

In contrast, when a male actor does the same, it is usually seen as a sign of professionalism and dedication to the role.

Kriti further claimed that male actors are sometimes provided with better facilities on film sets and that assistant directors tend to be more impressed by or attentive to them, while female actors are often taken less seriously.

She added that women are judged by a different standard than men, noting that male actors are occasionally given superior dressing rooms and other privileges during productions.

According to Kriti, the real issue is not the facilities themselves but the attitude that makes women feel less important.

She also pointed out that while strong female roles were once rare in Bollywood, the situation has gradually improved in recent years.

Kriti Sanon's latest film, Cocktail 2, reportedly earned around Rs137 crore at the worldwide box office.
