Heatwave claims over 4,000 lives across Europe

Brussels (Web Desk): More than 4,000 people have died as an intense heatwave continues to grip several European countries, with soaring temperatures triggering a sharp rise in heat-related fatalities.

According to international reports, the prolonged spell of extreme heat has severely affected public health across the continent, with thousands of deaths recorded in recent weeks.

France witnessed its highest temperatures in nearly 80 years during the past week. The country's health minister said 2,025 people have died due to the extreme heat, making it one of the worst-hit nations.

Spain also reported a significant toll, with the Carlos III Health Institute confirming 1,028 heat-related deaths during the month of June.

In the Netherlands, authorities recorded 480 deaths between June 22 and 28 after temperatures climbed to 40°C. Belgium reported more than 1,200 deaths linked to the heatwave between June 18 and 29.

The United Kingdom is also experiencing extreme temperatures, with forecasters warning that parts of the country could face a third heatwave.

The national weather service has urged residents to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the intense heat.

Experts say increasingly frequent and prolonged heatwaves, driven by extreme weather conditions, have become a major public health challenge across Europe. They have also warned that the situation could worsen in the coming days if temperatures remain unusually high.
