Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan reaffirm commitment to boost cooperation in diverse fields

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari and his Kyrgyz counterpart, Sadyr Zhaparov, on Thursday reiterated the shared commitment to enhance collaboration between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan in areas such as trade, energy, connectivity, education, banking, and cultural exchanges, aiming to benefit both nations.

Prior to the formal delegation-level talks, the two leaders held a brief one-on-one meeting at the President’s House to review the state of their bilateral relations.

Welcoming President Zhaparov, President Zardari highlighted that this visit—the first by a Kyrgyz head of state in two decades—was a timely opportunity to give fresh momentum to the friendly ties between the two countries.

He stressed that Pakistan deeply values its close relationship with Kyrgyzstan, forged through shared faith, common heritage, and longstanding cultural bonds.

The discussions covered cooperation across multiple sectors, with both leaders acknowledging that the current volume of trade does not fully reflect the potential of their respective economies. They underscored the need to broaden and deepen commercial engagement.

President Zardari also expressed appreciation for the participation of a Kyrgyz business delegation at the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Forum, calling it a strong sign of the mutual commitment to expand economic connections.

He welcomed Kyrgyzstan’s completion of its segment of the CASA-1000 energy project and reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to complete its part, which is now well underway.

The two leaders also reviewed regional connectivity initiatives and expressed satisfaction with the operational road corridor established under the Quadrilateral Traffic in Transit Agreement.
