Punjab CM directs establishment of secret anti-corruption cell to monitor provincial govt departments

Lahore (Web Desk): The Punjab government has launched a major operation against corruption and malpractice across the province, with a special secret cell established to monitor and coordinate action against individuals involved in corrupt practices.

According to sources, the newly established cell will oversee complaints and intelligence related to corruption, bribery, misconduct and misuse of official authority.

Reports regarding the ongoing operations will be submitted directly to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Sources further said that action against individuals allegedly involved in corruption and other unlawful practices has already begun, with several people reportedly taken into custody as part of the crackdown.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has issued strict instructions for a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, bribery, misconduct and abuse of authority. She directed the relevant authorities to take action wherever evidence of corruption or illegal use of official powers is found.

The chief minister also appealed to citizens to immediately report any instance in which an official or individual demands a bribe, engages in corruption or misuses their authority.

She emphasized that public cooperation would play an important role in identifying and eliminating corrupt practices.

To facilitate the registration of public complaints, the Punjab government has also established a dedicated helpline, 1350.

Citizens can use the helpline to report complaints and provide information regarding corruption and related misconduct.

Maryam Nawaz said that every complaint received through the system would be examined and followed up with appropriate action.

The Punjab CM made it clear that individuals found involved in corrupt practices would not be given any concession, stressing that the provincial government would maintain a strict stance against corruption and abuse of authority.
