Partial damage reported after drone attack on US embassy in Riyadh

Riyadh (Web Desk): A drone attack targeted the US Embassy in Riyadh, resulting in partial damage to the building and a fire breaking out within the compound.

The Saudi Ministry of Defense confirmed the incident and announced a nationwide high alert in response.

According to a ministry spokesperson, the Kingdom’s defense systems made extensive efforts to thwart what was described as a large-scale assault.

Authorities reported that a total of eight drones were launched toward the areas of Riyadh and Al-Kharj.

Two of the drones fell within the perimeter of the US Embassy in Riyadh, igniting a fire in part of the structure and causing limited structural damage.

Saudi air defense systems intercepted and destroyed most of the incoming drones mid-air, preventing what officials indicated could have been far more extensive destruction.

Meanwhile, Iran has firmly denied any involvement in the attacks, including reports of strikes targeting Saudi oil facilities.

Iran’s deputy foreign minister stated unequivocally that Tehran bears no responsibility for incidents involving oil installations in Saudi Arabia.

Iranian officials further emphasized that Saudi oil facilities are not considered military objectives by Tehran.
