Finance Minister Aurangzeb appreciates World Bank Group's continued partnership with Pakistan 

Islamabad (Web Desk): Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has restated Pakistan’s determination to continue reforms focused on building stronger human capital, improving social indicators, generating more employment opportunities, and promoting broad-based, sustainable economic growth.

He conveyed these views during a meeting held in Islamabad with a delegation from the World Bank Group led by Vice President for Human Development Mamta Murthi.

The finance minister expressed appreciation for the World Bank Group’s ongoing partnership with Pakistan, recognizing its sustained support for the country’s development agenda and reform initiatives.

Aurangzeb observed that while Pakistan has succeeded in stabilizing its macroeconomic environment, the government is now increasingly prioritizing social sector development through targeted investments in areas such as healthcare, education, skills enhancement, and social protection systems.

He further highlighted the importance of ensuring measurable progress and strong implementation discipline under the World Bank’s long-term Country Partnership Framework with Pakistan.

During the discussion, the World Bank delegation shared international best practices related to workforce development, technical and vocational education, and skills programmes designed to improve employment outcomes.

The exchange also underscored the need for closer collaboration between industry and training institutions, greater involvement of the private sector in capacity-building initiatives, and results-driven approaches that better align skills training with real labour market requirements.

Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to continuing cooperation in key sectors including health, education, social protection, workforce development, and the expansion of technology-enabled public services.
