Renowned folk singer Alam Lohar remembered on death anniversary 

Lahore (Web Desk): The 47th death anniversary of renowned Punjabi folk singer Alam Lohar was observed on Friday, as fans and admirers remembered his unforgettable contributions to regional music.

Born in 1928 in a small village near Gujrat, Alam Lohar rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most influential voices in Punjabi folk tradition.

He gained widespread fame for his passionate and emotionally rich performances of Waris Shah’s “Heer,” a classic he rendered in several distinctive vocal styles and musical variations that became his hallmark.

His artistic journey began early in life when he appeared as a child performer on Radio Pakistan.

By the age of 13, he had already released his first recorded album, marking the start of a remarkable career that would later make him one of the most popular singers of the 1970s in Pakistan.

In recognition of his outstanding cultural and musical services, he was honoured with the Pride of Performance Award in 1979.

Alam Lohar passed away on this day in 1979 in Lahore, bringing an end to a legendary era in Punjabi folk music while leaving behind a rich and enduring legacy.
