Modi government's foreign policy under scrutiny after 'operation sindoor' fails to garner global support

New Delhi (Web Desk): The Modi government's aggressive foreign policy is facing renewed criticism after “Operation Sindoor” failed to secure clear backing from major global powers. The diplomatic setback has raised questions about the effectiveness of India’s current strategic approach.

Despite efforts to rally international support, key countries such as China and Türkiye openly backed Pakistan's stance, while the United States offered mediation rather than taking India's side — a move seen by many as diplomatic isolation for New Delhi.

Senior Congress leader Pramod Tiwari slammed the Modi administration, saying the Prime Minister’s frequent overseas visits have amounted to little more than “photo-op diplomacy.” He added that India's failure to mobilize support during a critical operation exposes the hollowness of its foreign policy claims.

Foreign policy analysts have also expressed concern, urging the Indian government to reassess its diplomatic strategy. “India needs a pragmatic and balanced approach if it wants to maintain influence on the global stage,” said one expert.

The episode marks yet another instance where India’s assertive international posture has not translated into tangible diplomatic gains, further intensifying domestic and international scrutiny of its foreign policy direction.
