Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday urged the nation to shun all differences and get united against terrorism.

The premier said this while chairing the apex committee meeting at the Governor House in Peshawar to discuss police lines mosque tragedy and a strategy to curb the emerging wave of terrorism.

PM Shehbaz said that the police lines mosque blast is the deadliest incident after the Army Public School (APS) incident in the KP's capital in 2014.

The premier vowed that a thorough investigation would be carried out and the culprits behind the terrorist incident would be taken to task.

He expressed solidarity with the families of those who lost their lives in the terrorist incident of Peshawar and announced compensation money of Rs2 million for the dead and Rs 0.5 million for the injured, on behalf of the federal government.

The prime minister condemned the ongoing campaign on social media against the Peshawar incident, terming it as baseless and unfounded criticism.

PM Shehbaz recalled that military operations including Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad successfully wiped out terrorism in the past. He said that the nation would not forget the invaluable sacrifices of the armed forces in this regard.

The participants of the meeting offered fateha for those who lost their lives in a suicide blast at a Peshawar mosque.

The meeting was attended by the Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, (COAS), chief ministers of all provinces and other senior officials.

However, no representative from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) attended the meeting.

Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif convened an All Parties Conference (APC) on February 7 to discuss ways to overcome the current national challenges.

The APC, having representation from across the political spectrum, will be held in Islamabad and invitations have been extended to all the leading political leaders.

The prime minister has also invited Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to attend the APC.
