Pakistan win Blind T20 World Cup 2024

Multan (Web Desk): In a groundbreaking achievement, Pakistan’s blind cricket team triumphed in the Blind T20 World Cup 2024, securing their first-ever title with a dominant 10-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the final in Multan on Tuesday.

Bangladesh, batting first, managed to post 139/7, with Areef Hussain top-scoring for his side with a solid 54 runs. Pakistan’s bowlers, led by Babar Ali’s two-wicket haul, alongside Mohammad Salman and Matiullah, who each picked up one wicket, kept the Bangladeshi batters under constant pressure.

When Pakistan came out to chase the target of 140, the openers made the task look effortless. Nisar Ali played an exceptional knock, finishing unbeaten on 72 runs, while Muhammad Safdar supported with 47 not out.

Together, they chased down the total in just 11 overs, securing the win without losing a wicket and sealing a historic victory.

This marks Pakistan’s first Blind T20 World Cup title, a milestone that ended India’s three-year reign in the tournament.

In previous editions, Pakistan had reached the final but lost to India on every occasion, making this victory even sweeter for the team and their supporters, especially with the tournament being held on home soil.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the blind cricket team for their historic victory in the T20 World Cup, acknowledging their exceptional effort throughout the tournament.

He praised the players for their impressive performance, which earned them the well-deserved title of T20 World Champions.

Naqvi particularly highlighted the stellar contributions of captain Nisar Ali and Muhammad Safdar, whose brilliant batting in the final led the team to victory.

He also recognized the tireless work of the coaching and support staff, noting their role in the team’s success.

"The team's hard work, dedication, and unity were evident in every match," he remarked.

The PCB chief expressed optimism that this victory would inspire the team to continue their journey of success with the same determination and passion in future tournaments.
