Talal Chaudhry condemns police raid at National Press Club, Offers apology to journalists

Islamabad  (Web Desk): Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, expressed deep regret over the unfortunate incident that took place at the Islamabad National Press Club. He strongly condemned the event, emphasizing that freedom of expression remains a top priority for the government and that any violence against journalists is completely unacceptable. He also apologized to the journalist community for the distress caused.

In a statement to the media, Talal Chaudhry explained that during the protest, some demonstrators clashed with police officers, with a few individuals fleeing and entering the Press Club premises. He admitted that the police’s entry into the Press Club was inappropriate and occurred due to a misunderstanding.

The Minister has directed the Islamabad Police Inspector General to take swift and strict departmental action against the officials involved in the incident and has ordered a formal inquiry. Apologizing once again to the journalists, he clarified that there was no intention on the part of the administration to target the media personnel.

Talal Chaudhry further stated, “As a political activist, I vehemently condemn this incident and assured that measures will be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future.”
