Pahalgam incident: US urges India, Pakistan to work toward 'responsible solution'

Washington (Web Desk): The United States (US) has once again called on both India and Pakistan to pursue a responsible and peaceful resolution in light of rising tensions following the recent attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

During a press briefing, US State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce addressed questions regarding Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s diplomatic outreach, confirming that, “Secretary Rubio urged both countries to work towards a responsible resolution that maintains long-term peace and regional stability in South Asia. We continue to be in touch with the governments of both countries at multiple levels.”

Following Rubio’s calls to both the Indian foreign minister and the prime minister of Pakistan, regional tempers have somewhat cooled, though official rhetoric from New Delhi continues to strike a confrontational tone.

Responding to concerns about the ongoing hostility, Bruce noted, “There is a constant involvement. This government is in constant communication. We are asking for responsible resolution from both parties.”

Despite Washington’s appeals for restraint, the US reaffirmed its strategic alignment with India, particularly on matters of security.

“As the President (Donald Trump) articulated to PM Modi last week the United States stands strong with India against terrorism and PM Modi has our full support,” Bruce reiterated during the session, underlining the administration’s continued commitment to cooperation with New Delhi.
