Karachi (Web Desk): A large-scale maritime security drill, Sea Guard–2026, began on Monday with the objective of improving coordination among all concerned bodies to maintain safety and security across Pakistan’s maritime areas and adjacent waters.
According to a news release issued by Directorate General Public Relations (Pak Navy), the inaugural ceremony was attended by Commander Coast Vice Admiral Faisal Amin as the chief guest.
This marks the third edition of Exercise Sea Guard, which will continue from February 2 to February 9, 2026.
Organized at the national level by the Pakistan Navy, the exercise is designed to bring together stakeholders from across the maritime spectrum.
Participants include representatives from the shipping industry, fishing community, law enforcement agencies, and various private sector organizations, all working together to address the complex and emerging challenges in the maritime domain.
The week-long activity features a series of scenario-driven drills along with tabletop sessions aimed at testing and strengthening procedures related to maritime safety and coastal defense.
These engagements are intended to sharpen response capabilities and foster better coordination among the institutions responsible for protecting Pakistan’s coastline.
During the opening briefing, participants were also informed about the structure, functions, and effectiveness of the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC), which serves as a key platform for information sharing and enhancing maritime domain awareness.
In his remarks, Vice Admiral Faisal Amin appreciated the dedication of all stakeholders taking part in the exercise and acknowledged the positive contribution of the media in building national awareness about maritime security matters.
The ceremony was attended by senior Pakistan Navy officers, leaders from various government organizations, and representatives belonging to the private maritime and fishing sectors.
