Climate change a major challenge, water conservation top priority: Musadik Malik

Islamabad (Web Desk): Federal Minister for Climate Change Musadik Malik has warned that climate change is emerging as an increasingly serious challenge, stressing that timely and preventive measures are essential to deal with its growing impact.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, the federal minister said Pakistan’s underground reserves of clean water are declining rapidly, making water conservation an urgent national priority. He urged citizens to avoid unnecessary consumption of water and play their part in preventing water pollution.

Musadik Malik stressed the need for practical measures to collect and preserve rainwater instead of allowing it to go to waste. He noted that Islamabad’s major dams are important sources of water storage for the capital, but said it is equally important to protect these reservoirs from contamination and pollution.

The minister underlined that safeguarding water resources remains a top priority and a “red line” for the government. He called for effective and timely steps to conserve available water resources and ensure their sustainable use in the face of increasing climate-related challenges.
