2026 brings relief as govt cuts petrol price by Rs10.28, diesel by Rs8.57 per litre for next fortnight

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistanis kicked off 2026 with some relief at the pump as the federal government announced a substantial cut in petrol prices for the next fortnight.

Starting January 1, petrol will cost Rs253.17 per litre, reflecting a reduction of Rs10.28, the Petroleum Division confirmed in a statement.

The move comes after the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) recommended the adjustment to the federal government.

High-speed diesel also saw a price drop, falling by Rs8.57 per litre to Rs257.08.

In comparison, during the previous fortnightly review, diesel had been reduced by Rs14 per litre, while petrol rates had remained steady.

This latest adjustment offers a brief but meaningful reprieve for consumers amid ongoing economic pressures.
