Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry was released from Adial Jail on Wednesday after an additional sessions court granted him bail in a case regarding alleged incitement of violence against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Earlier, Additional Sessions Judge Faizan Haider Gilani approved the PTI leader’s bail against a surety bond of Rs20,000.
Fawad’s legal counsels Faisal Chaudhry, Babar Awan and Ali Bukhari were present in the court while Saad Hassan presented arguments as the ECP’s representative.
During the hearing, the investigation officer presented the case’s record, the judge accepted the bail plea and said, “Parliamentarians should not give such statements. Fawad Chaudhry should not have given such a statement.
The judge remarked that he is granting bail on the condition that Fawad will not repeat the conversation again.
The ECP and the prosecution opposed Fawad’s bail and pleaded for the rejection of the bail plea.
On Monday, a local court in the federal capitl sent Fawad Chaudhry to jail on 14-day judicial remand in the case regarding alleged incitement of violence ECP.
Judicial Magistrate Waqas Ahmed Raja rejected the prosecution’s plea to extend Fawad’s physical remand and sent him to jail on judicial remamand.
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry was arrested by Islamabad police from his Lahore’s residence on charges of sedition in the early hours of Wednesday (January 25) and shifted to the federal capital the same day.
As per the The FIR registered at the Kohsar Police Station on the complaint of ECP Secretary Umar Hameed accused Fawad of “inciting violence against a constitutional institution”. It was registered under sections 153-A (promotion of enmity between groups), 506 (criminal intimidation), 505 (statement conducing to public mischief) and 124-A (sedition) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
