Lahore (Web Desk): A sessions court in Lahore has delivered a major verdict in the defamation case filed by Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar against singer and actress Meesha Shafi, ordering Meesha Shafi to pay Rs5 million in damages to Ali Zafar. The court also issued a formal decree in favor of Ali Zafar.
The verdict was announced by Additional Sessions Judge Asif Hayat after the completion of detailed hearings in the long-running case.
The judge had earlier reserved the decision after hearing arguments from both parties and reviewing the evidence presented during the proceedings.
According to the court’s ruling, the allegations made by Meesha Shafi caused harm to Ali Zafar’s reputation and public image.
The court concluded that the statements led to reputational damage, and therefore Meesha Shafi is liable to compensate Ali Zafar.
In its decision, the court directed Meesha Shafi to pay Rs5 million to Ali Zafar as compensation for the alleged damage to his reputation.
Along with the verdict, the court also issued an official decree confirming the acceptance of Ali Zafar’s defamation claim.
The case had been ongoing for several years and involved extensive legal proceedings.
