Islamabad (Web Desk): NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) has introduced a new biometric verification facility based on facial recognition to resolve issues faced by citizens during fingerprint verification.

According to NADRA's spokesperson, under the directions of the Prime Minister and the Interior Minister, amendments have been made to the national identity card regulations, expanding the definition of biometric verification. Citizens can now authenticate their identity through facial recognition either via the Pak ID mobile app or at NADRA centers.

Starting from January 20, 2026, all NADRA centers will offer biometric certification based on facial recognition for a nominal fee. This certificate will include the citizen’s photo, ID card number, name, father’s name, unique tracking ID, and QR code. The certificate will be valid for seven days.

The spokesperson added that NADRA is fully prepared for the implementation of this system, and has requested relevant government and private institutions to take necessary actions. After the launch of the digital ID, this service will also be available on the Pak ID mobile app.
