Dhaka (Web Desk): National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq traveled to Dhaka on Wednesday to attend the funeral of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.
Upon landing at Dhaka International Airport, he was warmly received by senior officials from the Pakistan High Commission, according to an official statement.
His visit was undertaken on the special instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with the Speaker representing Pakistan at the funeral proceedings.
Following the funeral prayers, Ayaz Sadiq visited Khaleda Zia’s residence to offer condolences to her grieving family.
He met with her son, Tarique Rahman, and her daughter, expressing heartfelt sympathy and sorrow over the loss of their mother. The family expressed their gratitude to the Speaker for attending the funeral and sharing in their grief.
During his stay, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also met Bangladesh’s National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman, conveying condolences on behalf of Pakistan of Pakistan and the Prime Minister.
He later held meeting with Bangladesh’s Law Adviser, focusing on matters of mutual interest between the two countries.
