Jhang (Web Desk): A devastating road accident near Quli Faqir in Jhang on Wednesday claimed the lives of at least 14 people, including three women and a child, and left 31 others injured. The tragedy involved a bus from the University of Animal Sciences colliding with a passenger van.
The students on board were reportedly en route to Faisalabad to participate in sports events when the collision occurred. District Emergency Officer Muhammad Sultan said rescue teams rushed to the scene and immediately transported the injured and the deceased to nearby hospitals for urgent care.
Deputy Commissioner Jhang Ali Akbar and District Police Officer Bilal Iftikhar Kiani visited the accident site to oversee the ongoing rescue operations.
Expressing profound sorrow over the loss of lives, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed authorities to provide the best possible medical attention to the injured. She also instructed the Deputy Commissioner to personally monitor the treatment process and requested a comprehensive report on the incident.
The DHQ Hospital released an initial list of those who lost their lives, which included Sami Anjum, Ali Baloch, and Muhammad Rafiq Jan.
The injured included 60-year-old Safia BB, Mah Noor, Ayesha, Misbah Bibi, and a seven-year-old child, Jantan Bibi.
Others receiving treatment were 23-year-old Junaid Islam, 42-year-old Muhammad Ashraf, 25-year-old Noman Zafar, 21-year-old Hasnain, 22-year-old Abdullah Muhammad Khan, 20-year-old Kashif Ahmed, 20-year-old Ghulam Murtaza, 18-year-old Saad Mustafa, 34-year-old Sinan Raza, among several others.
As per hospital authorities, seven patients are in critical condition, with three admitted to the ICU at DHQ Hospital, while the remaining injured have been transferred to Allied Hospital for care.
