Top TTP commander among 4 terrorists killed in Bajaur as security forces foil Afghan border infiltration: ISPR

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Four Khwarij including Kharji leader, a high value target, Amjad alias Mazahim were killed during a precise and skillful engagement in Bajaur District, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a movement of a group of Khwarij, who were trying to infiltrate through Pakistan-Afghanistan border, was picked up by the security forces in Bajaur district last night.

“Own troops effectively engaged and thwarted Khwarijs' attempt to infiltrate and killed four Khwarij including Kharji leader, a high value target, Amjad alias Mazahim, ” it said.

The statment added that ther killed Kharji commander Amjad, Deputy and second to Kharji Noor Wali and head of Rehbari Shura of Indian proxy Fitna-al-Khwarij, was highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies.

The government had also fixed head money of Rs 5 million on him, as he remained actively involved in perpetuating numerous terrorist activities inside Pakistan while residing in Afghanistan.

It is pertinent to highlight that the leadership of Fitna-al-Khwarij while residing in Afghanistan is orchestrating infiltration attempts into Pakistan- primarily to project an impression of domestic presence and to raise the diminishing morale of their Khwarij in Bajaur and Mohmand because of effective operations of security forces.

“It is once again reiterated that the interim Afghan government must take concrete measures to ensure that Afghan soil is not used by Kharji proxies to perpetrate terrorism against Pakistan,” the ISPR said.

“It also validates our stance that Afghan soil is continuously being used as safe heaven by Khwarij belonging to Fitna-al-Khwarij against Pakistan.”

The statement said that the security forces of Pakistan remain resolute and unwavering in their commitment to defend the nation's frontiers.

The miltary’s media wing said that sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored kharji found in the area.

“Relentless counterterrorism campaign under vision "Azm e Istehkam" (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the ISPR said.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have commended the country’s security forces for eliminating four Khawarij militants, including a most-wanted commander, in an operation conducted in Bajaur District.

President Zardari, in his remarks, said that the ongoing campaign against terrorism under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam represents Pakistan’s resolve for lasting peace and national stability. He emphasized that the entire nation stands united with its armed forces in their mission to eradicate militancy.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also praised the professional competence and determination of the security personnel, noting that the operation successfully took down the notorious Khawarij commander Amjad and foiled the malicious plans of those threatening Pakistan’s sovereignty.

He reaffirmed the government’s firm commitment to completely eliminating the scourge of terrorism and pledged that those who target innocent citizens will continue to face decisive action.
