Islamabad (Web Desk): Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, who also heads the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), said on Saturday that the government is making progress to vaccinate the people.
In a post on Twitter, he said the government had set a target of vaccinating 70 million people by the end of 2021.
The minister said that 70 million people have now received at least one dose and 40 million are fully vaccinated.
The NCOC chief was confident that the vaccination target will be met and rather exceeded.
On the other hand, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,272,345 on Saturday after 658 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
As per the NCOC data, 45,690 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 1.44%.
According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 28,439 with 10 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,220,941 after another 836 virus recoveries were reported.
