Islamabad (Web Desk/Agencies): The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene a meeting on Sunday, 29th of Ramadan 1446 AH, at 6:00pm to sight the moon of Shawwal.

The meeting, chaired by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, will be held on the rooftop of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.

Simultaneously, zonal meetings of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will take place in the provincial capitals.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia on Saturday confirmed the sighting of the Shawwal moon, marking the end of Ramadan and announcing that Eid ul Fitr would be celebrated the following day, March 30.

The moon-sighting committee convened after Maghrib prayers, affirming the new moon's appearance after 29 days of fasting. In an official statement, the Royal Court confirmed that Saturday would be the final day of Ramadan, with Sunday designated as Eid ul Fitr across the Kingdom.

Similarly, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also declared that Sunday, March 30, 2025, would be the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The day marks the completion of the fasting month of Ramadan, which is observed in the Islamic calendar’s ninth month. Other countries in the region, including Kuwait, Qatar, and Iran, followed suit, announcing the sighting of the Shawwal moon and confirming that they too would celebrate Eid on Sunday.

The holiday symbolizes the end of Ramadan, a month dedicated to fasting, self-discipline, and reflection. Eid-ul-Fitr is a time of joy, where Muslims come together for communal prayers, festive meals, and moments of gratitude.

It is also a time for giving, as Muslims are encouraged to give Zakat al-Fitr (also known as Fitrana) to those in need, ensuring that everyone can partake in the celebrations.
