Beijing (Web Desk/China): China’s President Xi Jinping and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have vowed to pursue a steady, long-range strategic partnership.
Speaking during the talks, President Xi pointed out that at a time when the world is facing mounting instability, Beijing and London — as major economic powers and permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) — share a responsibility to step up engagement.
He said stronger exchanges and wider cooperation between the two countries could contribute to preserving global peace, stimulating economic progress, and raising living standards for their populations.
Xi underlined that mutual respect should form the foundation of bilateral ties and that disagreements must be addressed in a balanced and constructive way. He urged both nations to convert their scope for collaboration into concrete results that serve not only their own people but also the broader international community.
The Chinese leader also restated that China remains committed to peaceful growth, adding that the country has never started a war or seized foreign territory.
Prime Minister Starmer said he aims to forge a more mature and forward-looking relationship with China that can help strengthen the British economy. His comments suggested an effort to improve relations after a prolonged period of strain.
He described China as a key global force and said the partnership should make room for cooperation while also enabling frank and meaningful conversations on areas where differences exist.
