Karachi (Web Desk): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday contacted the designated ministers to discuss the anticipated flooding situation along the River Indus.
He emphasized the need for rigorous surveillance of the embankments and irrigation infrastructure on both sides of the river.
During the briefing, Minister for Irrigation Jam Khan Shoro provided an update on the river's conditions, reporting that at noon on Saturday, the water flow upstream of Guddu Barrage was measured at 383,299 cusecs, while downstream it stood at 350,943 cusecs.
At Sukkur Barrage, the flow was 313,000 cusecs upstream and 259,050 cusecs downstream. Similarly, Kotri Barrage recorded an upstream flow of 264,131 cusecs and downstream flow of 233,216 cusecs.
The Sindh CM was informed that the current state of the barrages remains stable, with all precautionary measures fully implemented.
He instructed the relevant departments and district administrations to maintain a high level of readiness in the field, while urging the ministers to personally oversee the ongoing efforts.
The ministers assured him that continuous monitoring is in place and that they are physically present along the riverbanks to guarantee public safety.
Furthermore, Syed Murad Ali Shah urged the residents living near the riverbanks and in low-lying areas to cooperate closely with authorities to ensure their safety should an emergency arise.
