PM Shehbaz in China's Tianjin to attend SCO summit, set to mee Chinese President Xi and other world leaders

Tianjin (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached China on Saturday to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's War victory in Beijing and other official engagements. 

The premier is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, along with other high-ranking government representatives.

Upon arrival at Tianjin airport, the Prime Minister was received by key Chinese officials, including Sun Meijun, Minister and Secretary of the CPC Committee of the General Administration of Customs, and Yu Yunlin, Chairman and Party Secretary of the Standing Committee of the Tianjin Municipal People’s Congress. 

Also present were China’s ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zedong, and Pakistan’s ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi.

The prime minister is scheduled to deliver an address at the SCO Council of Heads of State Summit, which will be held from August 31 to September 1, 2025.

During his stay, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to hold important bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.

He will also engage with top executives of major Chinese enterprises and preside over the second Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference in Beijing on September 4. The event is aimed at exploring fresh opportunities to deepen trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz will interact with other world leaders attending the SCO summit during his visit.
