Lahore (Web Desk): Lahore Qalandars handed Islamabad United their first defeat in PSL 10 with a dominant 88-run win at Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.
Chasing a daunting target of 210, Islamabad United was bowled out for just 121 runs in 16.5 overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi was the star with the ball, dismissing Sahibzada Farhan early in the innings.
Salman Ali Agha and Andries Gous put up a resilient 69-run partnership for the second wicket, but the collapse came shortly after Agha’s dismissal by Sikandar Raza in the 10th over. Agha made 36 runs off 25 balls, and Gous top-scored with 41 runs off 27 balls, hitting three sixes and two fours.
Haris Rauf was the standout bowler for Lahore Qalandars, taking 4 wickets for 31 runs in 3.5 overs, while Sikandar Raza supported with 3 wickets. Tom Curran, Asif Afridi, and Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up one wicket each.
Earlier, Lahore Qalandars posted 209/6 in their 20 overs, powered by a late surge from Sam Billings and Sikandar Raza, who put together a 64-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Fakhar Zaman contributed 44 runs, while Billings scored 38* and Raza made 39.
Islamabad United’s bowlers, including Imad Wasim and Jason Holder, managed to get two wickets each, but the total proved too challenging.
With this win, Lahore Qalandars ended Islamabad United’s undefeated streak in the ongoing PSL season.
