Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,524,355 on Tuesday after 269 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 27,046 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 0.99%.
Overall 574,989 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 504,926 in Punjab, 218,968 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 35,471 in Balochistan, 135,048 in Islamabad, 11,699 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and K 43,254 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 30,347 with one new fatality reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,485,473 after another 47 virus recoveries were reported.
Meanwhile, a UN report released on Monday places Pakistan among the countries that have done fairly well in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The analytical report, prepared by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), notes that on March 23, 2022, the cost of vaccinating 40 per cent of the population in Pakistan was 13.95pc of the country’s current health expenditure.
It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 483,824 million and death toll tops 6,152,197.
