New York (Web Desk): Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Maleeha Lodhi has said that sanctions regimes should not be used as political tools to advance geopolitical goals, Radio Pakistan reported.
Taking part in the debate on Preventing and Combating the Financing of Terrorism at the UN Security Council, Maleeha said shifts in financial systems in Pakistan have remediated these challenges.
The Pakistani envoy emphasised upon the need to make these institutions more inclusive of wider membership in their decision-making processes.
According to Maleeha Lodhi, the focus of international attention should be the continuous violence in Indian-occupied Kashmir and Palestine and the oppression of people who are struggling for their legitimate right to self-determination.
