Islamabad (Web Desk): The privatization process of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been successfully completed, with ownership of the national flag carrier officially transferred to new investors. The new management has also assumed operational control of the airline.
According to details, a subsidiary of the Arif Habib Consortium, PIA Equity Limited, acquired the airline for Rs 180 billion. Under the agreement, Rs 55 billion will be paid to the Government of Pakistan, while Rs 125 billion will be invested in the airline’s restructuring and development.
Following the privatization, restoration of international flight operations has also begun. PIA has resumed its Lahore–Manchester flights after a gap of five years, while Islamabad–Beijing services have also been restored after a two-month suspension.
Officials further stated that regular Lahore–Manchester two-way operations will formally begin from July 1, marking a significant step in the airline’s operational revival.
