Islamabad (Web Desk): Security forces have killed 29 terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) followed by precision strikes on militant camps and hideouts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced the development in a post on X, saying the military action was carried out in response to a series of terrorist attacks that had recently taken place across the country.

According to the minister, security forces initially launched an intelligence-based ground operation in the Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border after receiving credible intelligence about the presence of militants.

During the operation, troops engaged the terrorists with precision, eliminating high-value Kharji commander Khan Farosh, also known as Zabal, along with three militants affiliated with the India-backed Jamaat-ul-Ahrar group. Several other terrorists were also injured in the exchange.

Tarar said the operation was followed by further action under Operation Ghazb Lil Haq. Acting on reliable intelligence, security forces conducted carefully planned precision strikes during the night of June 28 and 29 against camps and safe havens used by Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and Fitna al Khwarij in the Pakistan-Afghanistan border region.

He said that strikes targeted three locations in Paktia, Paktika and Kunar, where terrorist infrastructure was successfully destroyed. A total of 29 militants were killed during the strikes, while large quantities of weapons and ammunition stored at the sites were also destroyed.

The information minister reaffirmed that Pakistan remains committed to promoting peace and stability in the region. At the same time, he stressed that the country will continue to take decisive action against terrorist elements and will not compromise on the safety and security of its people.

Tarar stated Pakistan has always strived for maintaining peace and stability in the region, but at the same time shall not compromise on the safety and security of our citizens, which remains our top priority.

“Our relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision “Azm e Istehkam” (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the information minister said.
