Lahore: Families of five Pakistani labourers who were killed in Iran’s Saravan attack demanded the government repatriate the remains of their loved ones for burial in their native towns.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran Mudassir Tipu said that the two Pakistanis who were also injured in the Saravan attack would be discharged soon from the hospital.

At least nine Pakistanis were killed in Iranian city of Saravan on Saturday.

The protesting families of the victims of the gun attack staged a demonstration outside the assistant commissioner’s office in Alipur tehsil of Muzaffargarh district.

“Deeply shocked by horrifying killing of nine Pakistanis in Saravan. Embassy will extend full support to bereaved families. Counsel Zahidan is already on his way to incident site and hospital where injured are under treatment. We called upon Iran to extend full cooperation in the matter,” Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran Muhammad Mudassir said in a statement posted on his social media handle.

The labourers, identified as Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Shoaib, Shabbir, Muhammad Azhar and his younger brother Muhammad Asghar, lost their lives when armed men attacked a house in the Sirkan area of Saravan city in Sistan-Baluchestan province near the Pakistani border.
