Larkana (Web Desk): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has stated that there have been significant improvements in the healthcare sector of Sindh after the 18th Amendment.
While addressing the convocation at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University in Larkana, Bilawal congratulated the graduates and emphasized that they now carry the responsibility to serve the nation. He urged them to make humanity their guiding principle in practical life.
Bilawal Bhutto acknowledged the undeniable importance of education and said that Larkana is not just a city but a symbol of resistance against injustice. He further appreciated the contributions of doctors and nurses during the pandemic, highlighting that they worked tirelessly on the front lines, serving humanity.
The PPP chairman mentioned that his government's priority has been to improve the health system, with major investments being made in healthcare after the 18th Amendment. He claimed that free heart treatment services are now available in Sindh, and health facilities have been extended to cities like Karachi, Nawabshah, Jamshoro, Sukkur, and Larkana.
Bilawal Bhutto also spoke about the public-private partnership with the Child Life Foundation to open emergency rooms for children in all districts of Sindh. He praised the Gambat hospital, stating that hospitals in other major Pakistani cities cannot compete with it in terms of healthcare facilities. He assured that where healthcare facilities had not reached, his government would make sure to provide them.
Additionally, Bilawal emphasized that between 1947 and 2008, Sindh had only 16 universities, but since 2008, 30 universities have been established. His goal is to ensure that every district in Sindh has its own university, allowing even remote areas access to quality education.
Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah addressed the gathering, acknowledging the significant efforts made by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto to empower women. He highlighted the Sindh government's best initiatives in the fields of health and education, stressing that no society can progress without education.
Murad Ali Shah also mentioned that Benazir Bhutto had dreamed of a university in 1989, which was eventually realized in 2009. He assured that reforms in the health sector are ongoing and emphasized that youth are the future of Pakistan. He concluded by stating that development based on education and research is the foundation of sustainable progress.
