Islamabad: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has said that all celebrations related to the New Year are banned across the country.

In a televised address, Kakar said: “Pakistani nation is in a sad state and stands in solidarity with Palestinians who have been facing the worst Israeli brutality since October 7, so keeping in mind the situation, the Government of Pakistan has decided to ban all celebrations related to New Year’s.”

On late Thursday, at least 30 people were martyred in Israeli bombing of the Nuseirat and Maghazi refugee camps in Gaza.

According to Al Jazeera, Israeli forces have stepped up aerial bombardments on residential homes in the refugee camps. “People are now seeing more bombs, less food, and less humanitarian aid.”

The Israeli army raids on the Nur Shams and Fawwar refugee camps followed a pattern of deadly assaults that have killed more than 300 people in the occupied West Bank since October 7, according to doctors and politicians.

Doctors recalled what they experienced during the Israeli army bombing of the Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarem during a raid that started on the night of December 26 and continued into the early hours of the following day.

Thomas White of the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees says Israeli forced opened fire on an aid convoy returning from northern Gaza along a route designation by Israel.

“Our international convoy leader and his team were not injured but one vehicle sustained damage,” he said, reiterating that aid workers should not be a target.
