At UN, Pakistan reaffirms commitment to dialogue, regional peace and stability

New York (Web Desk): Pakistan has reiterated its resolve to continue backing and encouraging initiatives focused on dialogue and regional stability amid growing tensions in the Middle East.

The remarks were made by Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nation (UN) Asim Iftikhar Ahmad Asim Iftikhar Ahmad during his address at an open debate of the UN Security Council concerning the evolving situation in the Middle East.

He stressed that the current circumstances demand patience, diplomacy, and constructive engagement instead of escalation.

Asim Iftikhar stated that Pakistan is actively contributing to diplomatic efforts and continues to support peaceful avenues aimed at resolving the crisis through negotiations.

Highlighting Islamabad’s diplomatic role, he said that the recent discussions held in Islamabad between the United States (US) and Iran demonstrated Pakistan’s dedication to facilitating dialogue and easing regional tensions.

Asim Iftikhar Ahmad further warned that instability in the Strait of Hormuz is having far-reaching consequences for many nations, including Pakistan, due to its global economic and strategic significance.

He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence of all friendly countries in the region.

Ambassador Asim emphasized Pakistan’s firm belief in adherence to international law and the peaceful resolution of conflicts through diplomatic means.
