Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have called on citizens to voluntarily switch off all non-essential lights for one hour, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm tonight, as part of the observance of Earth Hour.
In his statement, President Zardari noted that Earth Hour is marked worldwide as a symbolic gesture underscoring the importance of collective efforts to protect the environment.
He remarked that Pakistan is joining this global initiative and endorsing its central message—that every individual shares responsibility in lowering environmental harm and adopting more sustainable practices in daily life.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, said that at a time when environmental concerns are intensifying, Earth Hour serves as a powerful reminder that caring for the planet is a shared and essential obligation.
He stressed that Pakistan is confronting a worsening environmental situation, and despite contributing less than one percent to global emissions responsible for climate change, the country ranks among those most severely impacted by its consequences.
