Islamabad (Web Desk): Turkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Egypt’s Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty arrived in Islamabad on Saturday night for an official visit at the invitation of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
Their visit aims to engage in comprehensive discussions on pressing regional and global issues, with a particular focus on efforts to reduce tensions arising from the ongoing US-Israel conflict with Iran.
The Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia is also expected in the capital on Sunday to join the talks, further enhancing the diplomatic significance of the gathering.
Earlier, the Foreign Office (FO) stated that the foreign ministers will also take part in a two-day quadrilateral meeting on March 29 and 30 in Islamabad, which will focus on the swiftly changing geopolitical situation, especially in the Middle East.
This diplomatic engagement comes amid Pakistan’s active efforts to promote de-escalation in the nearly month-long conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran. Islamabad has been maintaining contacts with multiple parties in the region, positioning itself as a potential mediator to help ease rising tensions.
“During the visit, the Foreign Ministers will hold in-depth discussions on a range of issues, including efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region. The visiting dignitaries will also call on the Prime Minister,” the FO statement said.
The statement said that Pakistan highly valued its relations with the brotherly countries of Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Egypt.
“The visit would provide an opportunity to further strengthen Pakistan’s cooperation and coordination with these countries across multifaceted areas of mutual interest,” the FO added.
