Islamabad (Web Desk): Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar has sharply criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for its handling of the recent Swat tragedy, accusing it of failing to provide timely relief and rescue to those affected.

Addressing a press conference, Tarar said the suspension of the Deputy Commissioner was insufficient and called for the resignation of KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. He questioned why the helicopter available with the Chief Minister was not deployed for rescue operations.

Highlighting longstanding issues, the minister stated that despite PTI’s 12-year rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, an effective rescue system capable of prompt action remains absent. He remarked, “This is not just the death of tourists, but the death of the PTI system.”

Tarar also accused Gandapur of prioritizing political activities, such as preparing for protests in Islamabad, over providing relief to disaster victims.

He further criticized the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), saying taxpayers’ money from KP is spent on the agency, yet its performance has been “zero.”
