Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has issued directives for the swift deployment of 240 electric buses in 24 districts of the province to enhance public transport services and promote eco-friendly travel.
During a meeting held in Lahore on Saturday, the chief minister revealed that 500 electric buses would be introduced in major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur between August and October this year.
She further shared that another 600 electric buses would arrive in Punjab between November and December, as part of the government’s efforts to modernize the transportation network.
As part of the Punjab Clean Air Program, an additional 400 electric buses will be allocated to Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Nankana Sahib to help reduce air pollution.
Maryam Nawaz also emphasized the importance of timely implementation, instructing the Transport Department to ensure that all public service projects move forward without unnecessary delays.
