On the global front, the United States tops the list for the largest gold reserves, while China holds the leading position in Asia. India ranks eighth worldwide and second in Asia. Pakistan is ranked 49th in the global gold reserves standings.

Reports highlight that the United States, Germany, and Italy are the top countries holding the largest gold reserves, while China and India possess the most gold in Asia.

The World Gold Council reports that central banks globally purchased over 1,000 metric tons of gold in 2024, nearly doubling the average annual purchases of the past decade. As a result, central banks have emerged as the largest holders of gold, now possessing approximately one-fifth of all the gold ever mined in history.

This increasing accumulation of gold by central banks underscores its growing role as a key economic asset, influencing global financial stability and market trends.
