Islamabad (Web Desk): In view of the prevailing sensitive national situation, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has urged the public to demonstrate restraint and responsibility while engaging on social networking sites and other online forums.

According to an official communiqué, the citizens have been strongly discouraged from posting, sharing, or circulating any content that is unverified, provocative, or deceptive in nature, as such material could adversely affect national interests, disrupt public peace, or damage the reputation of state institutions.

The authority stressed that the spread of inaccurate information, particularly during sensitive times, can create unnecessary panic and instability.

The statement further encouraged citizens to rely exclusively on credible information obtained from authorized and reliable sources.

People have been urged to play a constructive role in the digital space by promoting factual content and avoiding the propagation of rumours or fabricated reports.

The regulatory body also warned that the dissemination of false or misleading information may invite legal proceedings under the applicable laws of the country.

The PTA called on the nation to act with vigilance, wisdom, and a heightened sense of civic duty in order to preserve stability and strengthen public confidence during the prevailing circumstances.
