OGRA recommends increase in petrol price

Islamabad (Staff Report): The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) hike in prices of diesel and petrol.

The OGRA, in a summary forwarded to the Ministry of Petroleum, has proposed to increase price of diesel by Rs9.44 per litre and petrol by Rs4.71 per litre.

The regulator has also requested the prices of kerosene oil to be raised by Rs8.06 per litre and light diesel oil (LDO) by Rs5.12 per litre for month of March.

Last month, the government had increased general sales tax rate on all petroleum products to 17pc across the board to generate an additional revenue of about Rs11bn per month. Until Dec 31, 2018, the government was charging 0.5pc GST on LDO, 2pc on kerosene, 8pc on petrol and 13pc on HSD.
