Lahore (Web Desk): The 91st death anniversary of renowned Urdu poet, dramatist, and playwright Agha Hashar Kashmiri is being observed today, paying tribute to his remarkable contribution to Urdu literature and theatre.
Born in 1879 in Banaras, then part of British India, his real name was Muhammad Shah. He rose to prominence as one of the most influential figures in Urdu stage drama and poetry, earning widespread recognition for his creative brilliance and literary depth.
Agha Hashar Kashmiri is often referred to as the “Shakespeare of Urdu” due to his powerful dramatic style, emotional storytelling, and mastery of dialogue.
