Islamabad (Web Desk): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said terrorism is an international issue, and the global community must work together to combat it.
He said this during a meeting with Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker in Islamabad on Thursday.
The minister outlined Pakistan’s determination to take robust action against terrorism and mentioned that the government is in the process of developing a thorough strategy to address the issue.
Naqvi also expressed his appreciation to US President Donald Trump for recognizing Pakistan’s significant contributions in the fight against terrorism.
The interior minister further assured the US of Pakistan's full cooperation in facilitating the repatriation of undocumented Pakistani nationals living in the United States.
He mentioned that the upcoming Pakistan-US Caucus meeting in New York next month will provide a platform to discuss the state of bilateral relations and to explore avenues for further cooperation in various sectors.
Ambassador Natalie Baker, in turn, condemned the recent terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express and other related incidents, extending her condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
She reiterated the importance of strengthening mutual efforts in counterterrorism.
Both sides agreed to organize a Counter-Terrorism Dialogue in June this year, aiming to deepen their collaborative approach to this critical issue.
Baker also commended the ongoing development projects in Islamabad, acknowledging the positive strides made in several sectors within Pakistan.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, US Political Counselor Zach Harkenrider, and Interior Secretary Khurram Agha were also present during the meeting.
Ambassador Baker extended her congratulations to Talal Chaudhry on his recent appointment.
