Islamabad (Web Desk): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former premier Imran Khan in seven cases registered against him in the federal capital.

A two-member IHC division bench, comprising IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, heard the PTI chief's petition.

In the petitions filed in the IHC today, Khan sought protective bails in seven cases registered against him at Golra, Bara Kahu, Ramna, Khanna, and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police stations in cases related to violence outside the Federal Judicial Complex on March 18, where Imran had appeared in the Toshakhana case.

The plea urged the court to stop the federal government from arresting the former premier in those cases, adding that the cases have been registered for political revenge.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad administration has imposed Section 144 (ban on public gatherings) in the capital and warned of arrests in case of the violation of its order.

“In light of court orders, only relevant individuals will be allowed to enter the court premises,” the Islamabad police tweeted.

Last week, the Lahore High Court (LHC) extended Imran’s protective bail till March 27 (today) in five cases registered against him in Islamabad, including two for “vandalism” at the judicial complex and high court.

The former premier had also been granted protective bail in the five cases on March 17 when he secured protective bail in a total of nine.
