Islamabad (Web Desk): The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in several parts of the country over the coming days and advised citizens to take precautionary measures, while the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has also issued an alert.
According to the Met Office, rain is expected in various districts of Punjab including Lahore, Mianwali, Khushab, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, and Hafizabad.
In Sindh, thunderstorms and rain are likely in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Dadu, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Sukkur, and Ghotki.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also expected to receive rain and strong winds in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Karak, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Swat, Dir, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Buner, Mohmand, Khyber, and Waziristan.
Similarly, rainfall is predicted in Gilgit-Baltistan, including Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Nagar, Diamer, Astore, Ghanche, Shigar, and Kharmang.
The NDMA warned that heavy rainfall and strong winds over the next 12 hours may cause slippery roads, reduced visibility, and disruptions in power supply.
Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, stay updated on weather conditions, and keep away from weak structures, trees, and billboards.
