Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed the resolve that there will be no compromise on the defence of the country and every aggression will be met with a befitting response.
In their statements, the president and the premier said that State of Pakistan will not compromise on its peace, stability and territorial integrity.
President Zardari applauded the Pakistan armed forces for effective retaliation to an unprovoked aggression by the Afghan Taliban, warning that any assumption that Islamabad’s preference for peace signified vulnerability would be met with a decisive counteraction.
The president asserted that Pakistan is fully aware of the locations from which the planners, facilitators and financiers of violence were operating. He made it clear that if the cycle of bloodshed persisted, those involved would not remain beyond Pakistan’s ability to respond.
Stressing solidarity at the national level, President Zardari said that the people of Pakistan and their courageous armed forces were standing united to defend the country’s sovereignty and borders.
He reaffirmed that there would be no compromise on the nation’s peace, stability or territorial integrity, and cautioned against any illusion that Pakistan could be coerced or intimidated.
Commending the security forces for what he termed a swift, comprehensive and resolute reaction, President Zardari expressed confidence in their readiness and capability to defeat hostile intentions aimed at undermining the state.
Recalling the suicide bombing at a mosque in Islamabad on February 8, he noted that he had issued a strong and unambiguous warning to the Taliban authorities immediately after the attack, followed by another clear message on February 22.
President Zardari said that over the past five years, the Taliban administration had enabled its affiliated Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants to carry out terrorist activities against Pakistan, despite Islamabad’s past support.
The president noted that sustained diplomatic initiatives undertaken by Pakistan, in coordination with friendly countries, to persuade the group to abandon violence had failed.
He added that by crossing the international boundary and challenging Pakistan’s sovereignty, the Taliban had significantly escalated the situation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made it clear that Pakistan’s defense is non-negotiable and that any hostile move would draw a powerful and decisive retaliation.
The premier underscored that Pakistan has consistently worked toward maintaining peace in the region.
However, he stressed that the country would not permit any attempt to undermine its sovereignty or territorial boundaries.
While reiterating Islamabad’s preference for stability and constructive engagement, he warned that aggression would not go unanswered.
PM Shehbaz highlighted the preparedness of the Pakistan Armed Forces, describing them as highly trained, professionally competent, and supported by effective defensive planning.
He said the military possesses the capability to respond to all forms of threats, whether arising from within the country or beyond its borders.
The premier stated that both the citizens of Pakistan and armed forces remain vigilant and united in their resolve to defend the nation’s security, independence, and territorial integrity.
PM Shehbaz said that there would be no compromise on peace and safety under any circumstances.
The prime minister also voiced confidence in the leadership of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Syed Asim Munir, saying the armed forces are fulfilling their responsibilities with dedication and patriotic commitment.
He maintained that under this leadership, the military is fully prepared to neutralize any hostile intentions.
PM Shehbaz affirmed that the entire nation stands firmly alongside its armed forces in confronting and overcoming any threat to the country.
