Peshawar (Web Desk): The 5th death anniversary of Famous female Pashto singer and drama artist Mahjabeen Qazalbash was observed on Wednesday.

Born as Surraya Begum in Peshawar in 1958, she hailed from a family with Turko-Persian Qazalbash heritage.

From a tender age of thirteen, Mahjabeen began her journey into music, making her mark as both a singer and an actress in Pashto plays, although she ultimately chose to focus primarily on her singing career.

Her melodious voice and unique style won her fans across not only Pashto-speaking communities but also across linguistic borders.

She beautifully crafted songs in various languages, including Urdu, Punjabi, Sindhi, Hindko, Saraiki, Persian, and even Turkish, demonstrating her versatility and profound understanding of musical expression.

Her untimely passing in 2020 left a void in the cultural landscape of Pakistan, yet her legacy endures.

She was honored with the title of Bulbul-e-Sarhad due to the enchantment her voice created, and her contributions were further recognized with the prestigious President’s Pride of Performance award.
